Body Contouring
Body contouring surgery can help many patients address changes in their body over time due to weight fluctuations, aging, or pregnancy. These options can also be a good fit for patients looking to refine areas resistant to diet and exercise alone. Body contouring reduces excess fat pockets, sculpts specific body areas, and tightens the skin. The abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, back, and breasts can all be reshaped with this advanced surgery.
At Brighter Day Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Kevin Day, MD is highly skilled with body contouring procedures. His customized, personal approach helps patients achieve their goals in a comfortable and supportive environment.

Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty surgery, commonly known as a tummy tuck, can improve the contour and appearance of the abdomen by eliminating excess skin and fatty tissues and tightening the underlying abdominal muscles. Reasons to pursue a tummy tuck may include extensive stretch marks, loose skin overhanging the waistline, mild to moderate soft tissue excess of the lower abdomen, and/or stretching or laxity of the abdominal wall muscles. Abdominoplasty may be performed in conjunction with liposuction to further enhance abdominal contours. The surgery may be performed as an outpatient procedure or with a one-night stay in the hospital, depending on your preference.
Liposuction
Liposuction removes fatty tissue through small incisions. It is performed using specialized equipment that suctions out and removes the fat, much like an internal vacuum. It is a good fit for patients with mild to moderate fatty tissue excess and youthful, elastic skin that can contract over the treated areas. Liposuction can improve the appearance of the chin, chest and breasts, abdomen, flanks, back, and thighs. It is typically an outpatient procedure.
Fat Transfer
The past 15 – 20 years have seen advances in the ability to move or transfer adipose (fat) tissue from one area of the body to another. Known as fat grafting or fat transfer, this procedure obtains fat through liposuction and filters and rinses it to secure only healthy, living fat cells. These cells are then placed as grafts (relying on the tissues adjacent to where they’re placed to sustain them) wherever fatty tissue volume has been lost. Structural fat grafting can be used to create a permanent soft tissue filler in the face, to augment and improve breast contour in reconstruction after mastectomy, or to correct volume loss occurring from lumpectomy or partial breast removal. It can also augment the buttocks, backs of the hands, or other areas where fat has been lost due to atrophy (thinning and/or aging) or tissue trauma.
Mommy Makeover
Pregnancy is an amazing and life-changing experience but can be hard on a mother’s body. Tissues often stretch and contract through the course of pregnancy and after delivery. These anatomic changes typically cannot be corrected through diet and exercise alone. Once a patient is done having children, has finished breastfeeding, and has returned to a stable weight, there are numerous options available to help restore a more youthful look. This can be accomplished through liposuction, abdominoplasty, mastopexy, breast reduction or augmentation, and other procedures used alone or in combination. With our individualized approach we customize the surgical plan based on your specific areas of concern.
Body Contouring After Massive Weight Loss
After significant weight loss, many patients feel more confident in their appearance. But when you lose a massive amount of weight, skin may sag in areas where fat used to be and certain body features may droop more noticeably. Many patients pursue body contouring surgery after weight loss, such as a tummy tuck, buttocks lift, face/neck lift, arm contouring (brachioplasty), and thighplasty. For women who are experiencing breast ptosis (sagging or drooping of the breasts) a breast lift can elevate their bustline for a firmer, more youthful look. With our patient-specific approach, body contouring after massive weight loss can address loose, inelastic skin in specific body areas, allow you to fit better in clothing, and take your slimmer figure to the next level.
